Nigerian superstar, Wizkid lost his mother, Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun yesterday (Friday).

According to THE PUNCH, the heart-wrenching news was confirmed by the artiste’s manager, Sunday Aare, revealing that Wizkid's mother peacefully left this world in the early hours of Friday at 1:30 am. Fans of the artiste and Nigerians have extended their heartfelt condolences in a show of solidarity. Close associates of Wizkid, such as DJ Túnez and Adesope Olajide, have also taken to social media to share their grief and confirm the sad development.

Songs like, “Ojuelegba “Joy”, “Thank You” and “Mummy Mi” reflect the deep bond between Wizkid and his mum.

2. Davido Acquires The World’s First Necklace with “Floating” Diamonds.

This custom pendant, named the “Timeless” piece, is a tribute to the success of his album. The pendant, crafted by London’s LocalKettleBrothers features a moving hourglass enclosed with diamond dust. Weighing 1.5kg, the pendant showcases meticulous craftsmanship with hand-picked diamonds, including a 1-carat pear diamond above the pendant, 4 - 0.5ct pear diamonds in the center, a 30 pointer border for ‘30 Billion Gang,’ and a 30 pointer border around the hourglass. The bespoke Cuban chain bears the inscription ‘30BG,’ with a Baguette cut display.

OBO released a remix for his hit single, “Unavailable” featuring American rapper, Latto. This addition, along with other reimagined versions of the song, suggests Davido’s continued efforts to promote the record. This strategy has proven successful, with “Unavailable” becoming the only Afrobeats song of 2023 to surpass 50 million streams on Spotify. Notably, it’s also the quickest Afrobeats song to attain Gold certification in Switzerland 🇨🇭📀⏳.

A fan on Twitter highlighted various sales and streaming milestones achieved since its release.

3. I Told Them

Burna Boy’s 7th album, “I TOLD THEM” drops next week🎉. The album's confirmed features include 21 Savage and the legendary Wu-Tang founding fathers, RZA and GZA. Adding to the anticipation, whispers suggest that J. Cole might also make an appearance on the album.

Describing the album to L.A Times, Burna Boy’s A&R executive and co-founder of Bad Habit Records, Matthew “Baus” Adesuyan said “It just sounds like a battle, especially with all the kung-fu samples from Wu-Tang Clan and Shaolin, it sounds like we’re going to war. That’s his energy now.”
